Actistem & PRP Therapy
At Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital, we are incredibly proud to be able to offer Ardent Animal Health’s innovative Acti-Stem Therapy and Purevet PRP Therapy for pets.
What is Actistem Therapy?
Actistem therapy is a form of regenerative cell therapy used for veterinary rehabilitation to help heal animals’ injuries and age-related damage. It is a very safe and affordable option for pets suffering from osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, hip dysplasia, and more!
How Does Actistem Therapy Work?
During actistem therapy, your vet will isolate regenerative (repair) cells from your pet’s own fat tissue, wake up the cells, and re-inject them directly into damaged areas.
Sometimes our body’s natural repair cells need an extra ‘jump-start’ to trigger their healing processes due to the effects of aging or an injury. By using your pet’s own repair cells, isolated from fat tissue in their body, their freshly activated healing cells can be directly applied to areas of need.

What is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) is a non-surgical regenerative treatment that uses the body’s own healing abilities to help treat injury and disease in pets.
PRP is a same-day, outpatient treatment that offers an affordable, all-natural alternative to drugs and steroids when your pet is suffering from acute injuries and chronic inflammatory conditions.
Since this technique uses your pet’s own body’s cells, there are no side effects to using this treatment.
Platelet Rich Plasma is a trending topic in human sports orthopedic medicine where it is being used for sports injuries and other wear and tear issues. After extensive research from Ardent Animal Health, these techniques have been successfully applied to veterinary medicine at a fraction of the cost of traditional human treatment!
How does PRP Therapy Work?
PRP extracts and concentrates essential healing proteins within a sample of your pet’s blood. A serum is formed consisting of plasma and platelets.
Plasma is the liquid part of blood consisting of mostly water and proteins that are involved in numerous biological processes. Platelets are a type of blood cell that contain many healing growth factors (proteins).
Ardent’s PRP Kit is a breakthrough product for pets that accelerates the healing properties of your pet’s isolated growth factors. These proteins can then initiate faster tissue healing and assist with inflammation when reintroduced to your pet’s body.
How Can PRP Benefit My Pet?
Ardent’s PRP Kit can be introduced topically in or around an injured joint, tendon, or used in its gel form to treat large burns or wounds.
