Jessica Hopwood grew up in Brighton, Illinois and graduated Valedictorian from Southwestern High School in 2001. Jessica attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL and received her Associates in Veterinary Technology in 2003 and passed the Illinois Boards to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. After graduating, she completed an externship at the Kansas City Zoo where she received over 400 hours of hands-on training as a technician in the field of exotic animal medicine. Then she accepted a position as a Certified Veterinary Technician at an emergency hospital where she worked for 11 years taking care of ICU patients, developing and managing the hospital’s blood bank program, and assisting with surgeries. During this time, she assisted with and observed multiple ultrasound procedures and decided to focus on pursuing a career performing ultrasounds. In 2012, Jessica completed Sound-Eklin’s Academy of Veterinary Imaging program and received an Advanced Imaging Certificate of Completion. In 2014, her passion for ultrasound and the need in the local veterinary community inspired her to start a mobile ultrasound business, Veterinary Ultrasound Services. Her services allow veterinary clinics to provide in-house ultrasounds for their clients. Jessica performs complete diagnostic abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms. The ultrasound studies are sent to a telemedicine company to have a board-certified radiologist or cardiologist interpret the case and send a report within 24 hours.
Jessica has over 15 years of experience in the veterinary field. She enjoys traveling to multiple veterinary clinics in the mid-Illinois region and providing on-site ultrasounds. Jessica loves performing ultrasounds and appreciates a challenge which motivates her to constantly improve her knowledge and experience.
